Updates
Some updates because I’ve been busy and AFK lately. Rehearsal yesterday with the boys was amazing. We worked out two fresh songs for my upcoming album, “Painted Fan”. We are heading back to Hyde Street Studios on Saturday to record them and three others.
During rehearsal we were running a song called “Lazarus” which has a heavy blues influence. Either I was playing a little too vigorously or I angered El Diablo because my stand collapsed, and my keyboard crashed down onto my foot. The keyboard is fine. It survived a car wreck, so this was nothin’. It laughs in the face of physical damage. It is The Rock of keyboards. My foot however is bruised to hell… ow ow ow ow. Time to trade in my “X” stand for a “T” stand.
To top it off, we finish up and I walk down Dore street, turn the corner to get my car and someone has smashed my window. Again. On my brand new car. Honestly, I felt very little rage or upset. I shrugged in resignation. This is the third time in less than two years my car has gotten broken into. They took nothing. I have the “I live in a city, hahaha, cover all the things…ALL THE THINGS.” insurance so, it’s only $50 to get the window replaced. It’s just a hassle until I can get it taken care of Friday.
Kickstarter preparations are going well. When I say well, I mean my time management skills are such that I will say everything is going well until a week before it launches when I’ll have a nervous breakdown. The poster is almost designed. When it’s done I can do a simplified version for flasks and t-shirts. I have also successfully made piano key necklaces which look pretty gorgeous if you ask me. I need to decorate them with a touch of gold or silver paint and a logo, but that’s about it. So PRETTY.
Tonight I am playing a set at the Bazaar Cafe with Jeff Desira, and it will be good to be back in that cafe that feels so much like a tree fort for local musicians to get together and play for each other. Then more rehearsal with the boys.
