This Saturday at The Freight & Salvage!
As many of you know, I have been rehearsing with a new band since November: Scott & Mike.
Scott Amendola is a drummer musicians tend to know about. To me, he is just a very nice guy who can play his balls off and has very pretty blue eyes. 🙂 I am constantly looking over from my piano and wondering, “How did he DO that? How did he make that sound…” His virtuosity and innovation intimidate me, but then our mutual love of things like the word “douche” and Seth MacFarlane cartoons makes me forget his gravitas.
Mike is Mike Sugar. We call him Sug, or Sugz. He is the best bassist I have ever met. Listening to him play gives me…feelings. He also says things like, “give us a squeeze” and “fresh as a daisy” because he is from New Orleans…oops, sorry N’awlins.  This, in itself, is enough to make me love him, let alone those triple octave whole notes he sometimes hits. They make the little hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. He can play a lot, or he can play a little. Taste is his watchword, but when needs be he can release the beast.
Things in my life have been so upside down lately I don’t know sky from ground most days but I do know one thing: these guys are absolutely amazing. I live for our rehearsals. I have never had so much fun playing my own music before.
I feel so lucky to be able to have the opportunity to play with them.
Our firstest gig EVER is this Saturday at The Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley. We open at 8pm for The Fall Risk. This show is all ages. They are having a special promotion right now where tickets are $9 each if you buy two. 🙂 Otherwise, tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.
You can buy tickets here: Â https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/705841
Please come out and help us celebrate this new chapter in my musical journey.
Much love,
Rabbit
